Our Team

Our small team of teachers at TLC are dedicated to their students and really enjoy seeing the children learn.

Karen Taylor – Director/Owner/Teacher

Karen opened the preschool in the fall of 2005. She found a love for working with children while at Holloway Elementary helping them read. Reading stories to the children is her favorite part of teaching. She also enjoys watching them explore new ideas and accomplishing new goals.

She is married and the mother of two awesome adult men. She is also a proud Nana to 2 sweet granddaughters and one handsome grandson.

Julie Hickman – 4’s Teacher

Miss Julie has been a Preschool Educator since 2012 and has been with TLC as a 4-year-old teacher since 2018.

Miss Julie’s background is in the natural sciences (BS Biology/MSPH Environmental Science & Engineering) and she functions as the STEM coordinator for TLC. She designs and implements specialized learning opportunities in science and teaches fun activities with principles in biology, chemistry, physics and environmental science.

Miss Julie is dedicated to helping kids reach their full potential and be excited to learn! Her favorite thing about teaching is watching students have those “A-ha!” moments as they master a specific task or reach a particular milestone.

Miss Julie is married to her college sweetheart and has three children and one cat.

Dakota Goodell – 3’s Teacher

Miss Dakota has been teaching the 3-year-old class since 2019 and loves it more and more every day! She was a stay-at-home mom for 5 years before sending her daughter to TLC, then joining the TLC teaching team the very next year.

Dakota and her husband have two kids, 3 dogs, and a cat. She loves all things art and Halloween, and is an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes. She loves to see her students’ smiling faces, watching them grow and explore their imaginations!

Classroom Ratios

The teachers listed will also be used as classroom substitutes.         

The 4-year-old class observes a 1 to 14 staff/ student ratio. The 3-year-old class has a 1 to 12 ratio.
